Eric and J.D.,
It was my pleasure. It is always a bit dicey reviewing books written by
colleagues; however, in this case it was easy since the book has great merit
and few flaws. The fact that I have a particular interest in the subject
added to the motivation to write a review.
Best of luck. It deserves a reading by everyone interested in Stuart and
Gettysburg, not to mention just about anyone who is enjoys reading about
Civil War controversy. At long last there is a single reference work on
this broad subject, and we no longer have to sift through a whole parcel of
books and articles to pull the story together.
This book is another example of why the search for truth and accuracy about
what happened at Gettysburg and elsewhere during the CW is a never ending
endeavor.
Regards, Tom

Likewise, Tom - that was a wonderful and honest review and we very much
appreciate it! As you say in the review, we hope that discussion of
Stuart's role in the campaign is re-energized, and we hope we've contributed
to the scholarship of it. I think we've certainly given readers a lot to
think about.
Thanks again, Tom!
J.D.
>>Just a quick note to say thank you to Tom Ryan for the very kind
things written in his review of our book _Plenty of Blame to Go
Around: J.E.B. Stuart's Controversial Ride to Gettysburg_. JD and I
really appreciate it.
