Note that the name is actually spelled "Wisler."
A good amount of work on the grounds has taken place, and there has been some conservation work on the home itself. One day, I believe, the post-war addition will be removed, restoring the house more to its 1863 appearance, and there will also be waysides installed hopefully.

<<Drive west on Route 30 and turn left onto Knoxlyn Road and turn around to face Route 30 again. You will see the First Shot marker among shrubbbery in front of the Whisler house.>>
Tom,
I went to see the First Shot marker this past Saturday. Since the Whisler house is now owned by the Gettysburg Foundation, you can pull into the driveway and get out to walk over to the first shot marker (the "driveway" is a little hard to identify, since it has a lot of grass overgrowing the gravel). That way you can read the inscriptions and take photos close up. The shrubbery has been cleared away, so you can see it much better than previously.
Knoxlyn Road is about a mile past Herr's Tavern. It is dangerous to park on Chambersburg Road and it is difficult to park on Knoxlyn Road. Knoxlyn Road dead ends into Chambersburg Road from the left, and the Whisler house is on the right directly in front of the road.
