AL went to Fort Monroe from May 5-12, 1862, to West Point to confer with
Winfield Scott, 23-25 June 1862, and to Philadelphia for a Sanitary
Commission Fair, June 16-17, 1864

...the greatest and the noblest man of the last century was Abraham
Lincoln.Though America was his motherland and he was an American, he
regarded the whole world as his native land.

Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:

I am trying to remember all the times that Lincoln left Washington D.C.
while he was President. There was the trip to Gettysburg in November 1863,
the trip to Antietam in October 1862, the trip to meet with Grant in Spring
1865 at City Point and the trip to Richmond at the end of the war. Have I
missed any?

Bill
