I believe Adelman's "The Myth of Little Round Top" is based on his thesis...
I believe he mentioned that in the forward.

Those unfamiliar with the woo-woo of current academic fashion might not 
realize how dreadfully old-fashioned Durkota's dissertation is. It aims to 
tell you what actually happened at a given time and place on the basis of 
the best ascertainable evidence. Definitely not comme il faut these days! 
Nary a mention of Foucault or feminist theory!

Durkota has the good fortune to be working at a relatively out-of-the-way 
place. If he were at a more trendy and prestigious history department, I'm 
sure his topic and methodology for a master's paper would have been 
indignantly disallowed.
