I was at my daughter's soccer practice last night, and was spending the
time reading some of Bachelder's letters. A woman queried what I was
reading, and after explaining, she mentioned that her 15 year old has
become very interested in The Battle. She asked for some suggested
reading, and the first two books that immediately came to mind for a
teenager starting out were Tucker's High Tide and Foote's Stars in Their
Courses - as both seem to be written in an easy-to-read manner. [I also
put a plug in to gdg.org - telling her it's a great place for him to
start flying around the WEB...]
Are there any other suggestions out there? I'll be seeing her again next
Monday, and if there are better (or more) suggestions, I'd like to pass
them on. Getting another generation interested in learning & history &
Gettysburg is always worth spending some time on...
Thanks,
Alan
