To add to the list, I recommend two recent books by members of this group:
Plenty of Blame to Go Around by Eric and J.D. that deals with Stuart's ride
around the Union army, and The Battle Between the Farm Lanes by David Shultz
and David Wieck that describes Hancock's efforts on Cemetery Ridge on July
2. Not only are they well-researched studies that go beyond the level of
detail of existing works on their subjects, but there are tour guides in
each volume that allow you to follow the action from point to point.
I agree that Brigades of Gettysburg is a handy reference work.
Merry Christmas, Tom Ryan

Subject: GDG- Books: Merry Christmas to ME?
Esteemed GDG Member Contributes:
I am looking for some new Gettysburg book to buy
myself for Christmas (I have learned never to ask
for books as it is hopeless unless I provide
name, author, etc - and what fun is that!?).
One book I dont have is "Brigades at (of?)
Gettysburg". No reviews at AMAZON.com. Is it
worth owning?
What books does the GDG membership recommend for
the advanced Civil War historian with a focus on
the Gettysburg Campaign? I am sure I am not the
only one who would value input on this point.
Cheers!
