<< I don't remember Tillie Pierce having an issue with the Wade family but 
I've heard something about John Burns having some some problems with their 
father in Burns' capacity as a constable.  I think the comment about the 
Wades being southern sympathizers (based on the names they gave their 
daughters) came from Burns also.  John Burns after all was very good at 
promoting his favorite Gettysburg personality, John Burns.  Supposedly he 
resented the attention paid to Miss Wade's death and had several derogatory 
comments about both her and her family.  >>

That's probably what I was thinking of, and perhaps mixing to gether a bit 
what Pierce and Burns had to say.

As far as the sisters' names are concerned, obviously they long predated the 
CW.  And to be fair, a considerable amount of Getysburg's commercial 
contacts, such as carraige manufacturing, ran to the south, to southern 
connections and even sympathies would be far from unheard of.
