Thanks to those members of the GDG who came to
Williamsport, Maryland for Williamsport Days this
past weekend.
We plan to expand the living history component
even more for future events (this year we had
French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, War of
1812, Civil War USA and CSA).
Also, we plan to expand the Civil War related
tours in the future. The town of Williamsport
and the C&O Canal have great Civil War and
Gettysburg Campaign related histories.
I know many of you want to see the nearby site of
the battle of Falling Waters and the Donnelly
House. We hear you! We are in the process of
establishing a non-profit organizaton dedicated
to the 1863 battle of Falling Waters (not to be
confused with the 1861 one in West Virginia). We
plan to have a visitor center, tour walks and
living history events. We also plan to rebuild
the original Donnelly House barn as seen in the
Forbes sketch of the battle. More updates to
follow here.
