Contrary to popular belief Calef and all other horse batteries were not 
officially assigned to Pleasonton let alone any one division ... they were 
attached.   Both Robertson and Tidbull's brigades were under Hunt's control made 
possible by Hunt's and Reynolds' May 17 artillery reorganization. 

Yes, Calef was with Buford June 30. Sometime after 4:00 A.M. Calef was called 
to Action Front, unlimbering in battery south of Fairfield, near present day 
Ski Liberty. Two sections were in line while a third covered the old stone 
bridge leading to Emmitsburg.
