Oh, but JLC was a singer, among his many other accomplishments! During his
college years, he sang in and led the choir at First Congregational Church in
Brunswick, which was accompanied by a certain Miss Francis Caroline Adams.
He overcame his early speech impediment (he stuttered) by learning to "sing"
his words (singing uses a different part of the brain than speech, which is
why M-m-m-Mel Tillis could sing clearly). Like his speaking voice, his
singing voice was described as "strong" and "beautiful".
He also played the bass viol, but that's not part of this discussion... <g>
