GDG- Dead Veterans/thanks

This is WAY cool. the gravestones all identified the company and regt of the deceased, but the on line listing of who's interred only lists them as CW veterans, and I, of course, didn't write them all down.
  Interesting stuff, eh what?

You going to need to look up the regiment's history to see if they were at
Gettysburg. That will tell you if the =regiment= was there.

If you want to see about the soldier, then look up his records at the
National Archives ($) to see if he was present and accounted for during
the Gettysburg campaign period. Even then there can be some doubt. One of
my ancestors was present and accounted for during the campaign, but for
the battle, he was detailed as a wagon guard about 4 miles in the rear.
Was he present at the battle? I tell people so, but in reality, he was
close to it, but not there.

Some "Pay" web sites, such as http://www.civilwardata.com/, will list when
and where soldiers were wounded and/or killed. If your man was unlucky
enough to have been a casualty, you won't have to look at his pay records.
