GDG- Dead Veterans Question

Keith,

I got the June 30, 1863 Present for Duty Rosters out of RG 94, National
Archives, for each cavalry regiment in the AOP. It lists everyone present
on that date, or where they were reassigned, etc. Monthly reports were to
be completed on that date. So, I would assume that the infantry/artillery
regiments also have such reports in that file, or perhaps another close to
it. Incidentally, the records also contain armaments for each company - in
the case of the cavalry, number of sabers, carbines (by Manufacturer) and
sidearms (Manufacturer and caliber).

So try the NA and hopefully you can come up with the June 30 rosters for
whatever regiment you're looking for.

>>Due to one of those cosmic coincidences that seem to direct my path, I
recently found myself walking around the South Canaan (Pa.) Protestant Bible
Cemetery Where I noted several ACW Veterans stones, marked with a GAR Star
and an American Flag.
If one wanted to find out more about let's say, Sergt. Leonard Single, CO.
C, I D.C Inf. or any of the other Vets interred there,Just out of curiosity,
What procedure would one follow to find out if they served at Gettysburg? .
