Hi Teej,
Some writers have explained Robertson's behavior during the Gettysburg
Campaign as justified, because Lee wanted his cavalry force to protect the
wagon trains of confiscated supplies being sent up the Valley from Maryland
and Pennsylvania back into the South. I have not found any evidence of
this, and existing documentation points to Robertson essentially falling
asleep at the switch.
I would be interested in reading those letters. Can you cite a source for
them?
